Paris-based Inbolt secures $12.5 million to expand its hardware-agnostic 3D vision and AI control layer in the US and APAC, and into data centers and electronics manufacturing.

Inbolt, a Paris-based developer of 3D vision and AI software that lets industrial robots perceive their environment and adjust control loops in real time, has raised $12.5 million. The round was led by new investor Shift4Good and joined by Bridges Climate Transition Partners, with existing investors BNP Paribas Développement and Ora Global participating. Total funding now stands at $34 million. The capital will fund expansion in the US, where Inbolt opened a Detroit office in 2026, and in APAC, plus entry into data centers and electronics manufacturing.

Key takeaways

  • Problem: Most industrial robots remain effectively blind to part misalignment, tooling wear and normal line variation, causing stalls, errors or defective parts. A 2025 ABB survey of 3,600 industrial leaders found unplanned downtime can cost up to $500,000 per hour, with 44 percent reporting equipment-related stoppages at least monthly.
  • Solution: A hardware-agnostic AI software layer combined with 3D vision that runs natively on Fanuc, ABB, Kuka, Yaskawa, Comau and Universal Robots platforms, deployable on new and existing lines without replacing installed equipment.
  • Traction: Deployed on 200+ robots in 100+ factories across three continents, with clients including Bosch, Beko, Flex, Ford, Stellantis and Toyota.
  • Recognition: Ranked #3 on the Sifted 100: France & Benelux on a two-year revenue CAGR above 500 percent; its deployment helped a Stellantis Detroit assembly plant become a top performer.

For manufacturers, the significance is retrofit economics: vision and adaptive control can be added to mixed robot fleets without a full line rebuild, targeting changeover, alignment and downtime losses that dominate highly automated plants.
