Shanghai Electric introduced its first self-developed industrial humanoid robot, named Suyuan, at WAIC on July 26, 2025. The robot stands 167 cm tall, weighs 50 kg, and features 38 degrees of freedom (DoF) for dexterous manipulation. It is equipped with a 275-TOPS on-device AI processor, enabling real-time data analysis and integration with large language models for natural task interpretation.
Suyuan can carry up to 10 kg of cargo and lift 2 kg with one arm, moving at 5 km/h. It uses LiDAR and binocular vision for autonomous navigation. In pilot tests, the robot autonomously identified, positioned, picked, and relocated mixed-size crates, improving warehouse productivity.
The company also showcased its Lingke dual-arm robot, which uses bimanual coordination and compliant force control to handle complex manufacturing tasks, reportedly improving efficiency fivefold. Lingke employs a data-model-deployment closed-loop system that enables continuous learning from operational data.
Additionally, a joint venture with Johnson Electric introduced rotary, linear, and dexterous finger joints for humanoid robots, and secured partnerships with the National and Local Co-Built Humanoid Robotics Innovation Center (Qinglong Project) and Fourier Robotics. Shanghai Electric holds 189 patent applications in humanoid robotics, with 120 granted.
