Simbe Robotics introduces Brand Insights, providing retailers' vendor partners with near real-time shelf intelligence to improve inventory and promotions.

In context

In late 2024, retail automation was expanding beyond in-store operations into data monetization. Retailers deploying autonomous shelf-scanning robots sought to turn the rich item-level data they collected into new revenue streams and stronger supplier collaboration, addressing long-standing visibility gaps on store shelves.

What was reported

Simbe Robotics launched Simbe Brand Insights, a solution that gives retailers' vendor partners near real-time shelf intelligence. It converts data collected by Simbe's autonomous robots into daily, actionable insights for direct store delivery partners, CPG brands, national manufacturers, and smaller brands. The insights cover SKU-level availability, out-of-stocks, item location, restocking needs, and promotion execution.

Vendors can use these insights to improve inventory management, product placement, pricing, shelf share, and customer experience. Retailers can generate new revenue streams and increase ROI by sharing this data, while category managers, merchandisers, and brand account managers gain precise, store-level KPIs to guide strategies and negotiations.

The solution is delivered through Simbe Mobile, providing a prioritized list of pricing and restocking tasks. Schnuck Markets, a retail partner, noted that vendors like Coca-Cola can use the data to stock shelves and optimize resources. Simbe's robots, including Tally, are deployed with retailers such as Albertsons, SpartanNash, and Wakefern.

Why it mattered

Simbe Brand Insights addressed the data lag inherent in traditional syndication, which provided monthly data. By offering daily, item-level visibility, it aimed to reduce out-of-stocks and improve promotional effectiveness, fostering a more collaborative retail ecosystem. This move underscored the growing value of robotics-generated data as a strategic asset in retail automation.

“By sharing store intelligence with vendors, Simbe Brand Insights puts the retail ecosystem on the same side of the table, leading to stronger relationships and performance across the board.”
