Construction tech startup Automated Architecture (AUAR) shipped two of its robotic micro-factories to the US, marking its first expansion into North America. Each micro-factory can produce up to 180 homes per year and is shipped in standard containers with pre-assembled components, allowing quick deployment within 12 weeks of ordering. They produce modular timber-frame panels for walls, floors, and roofs, which can be assembled on-site into various home designs. The system uses ABB robots equipped with vision and AI to handle modular assembly, boosting speed, flexibility, and consistency.
AUAR offers a 'hardware-as-a-service' model with no capital expenditure, and its AI-powered software supports partners from design to manufacturing, automating manual processes. The first project will be a low-energy Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) to train the Rival team before full-scale production.
