Arirang K in Georgia uses four LG CLOi ServeBots to assist wait staff, improving efficiency and customer experience.

In context

In early 2023, service robots were gaining traction in hospitality as businesses sought to improve efficiency and customer engagement. This deployment at a Korean restaurant in Georgia illustrated how commercial robots were moving beyond novelty to practical use in food service.

What was reported

Arirang K, a Korean BBQ restaurant in Johns Creek, Georgia, has been using four LG CLOi ServeBots since June 2022. The robots, model LDLIM21, feature three shelves each capable of holding up to 22 pounds, and can be programmed to navigate to specific tables or return to the kitchen automatically.

The ServeBots reduce the number of kitchen trips servers need to make, allowing them more time for customer interaction. Server Taylor Robinson noted that the robots help carry hot and heavy dishes, improving safety and efficiency. General Manager Miok Kim said the robots have enhanced the guest experience and generated excitement, with customers frequently sharing photos and videos on social media.

The LG CLOi ServeBot offers up to 11 hours of operation on a single charge and can be programmed for various floor plans, making it suitable for restaurants and other venues. It is the first commercial service robot to receive UL certification for safe operation in consumer environments.

“They take a lot off my shoulders, literally off my hands. I’m able to meet the customer at the table and hand the food off without any problems.”

Why it mattered

This implementation demonstrated the viability of service robots in small-business settings, showing measurable benefits in staff efficiency and customer engagement. The success at Arirang K prompted the owner to consider deploying robots in another restaurant, and the distributor Bravo E Tech plans to promote the technology to other hospitality businesses, signaling growing adoption in the sector.
